I haven't received her yet but I have been studying her photos and it seems to me that her facial colouring is going to be very low - almost non existant.
I guess this is because she is from 1996. Is it common and is there anything I can do to enhance her or is it better to leave alone.
Here is the auction:

It could be the flash that is making her face look much lighter?????
I guess I am just worrying too much.

Juliette, congratulations on your new dolly! It is actually very common for the earlier dolls to have very little color on their lips or cheeks. If it bothers you after you see her in person, you can try applying some color yourself. Check out the website stickies to find info on face painting.

Juliette,
She looks exactly like my Molly who is a 1996 doll. Over time she began to look very colorless. I used some of my own powder blush on her cheeks, applied with a cotton ball. I placed one of our newer, more colorful, Mattel dolls beside her and carefully studied the placement of her cheek color. I also colored her lips a bit with a little pink lipstick on a Q-tip (cotton bud on stick.) This process has given her a bit more color and it was fairly easy to do.
The lipstick seems to wear off, but the blush stays in place. I occasionally re-do her lips and might even add a little more color to her cheeks.
I have a Felicity who is a 1995 doll and her complexion is much more colorful, she has a bit of a peachy glow.

My AGT from 1996 is colorless. If you hold her up to the newer dolls she looks very blah!

Juliette, that is perfectly normal for old AG dolls to have less make up on. My PM dolls mostly have very little color on them, but that is ok, they are still loved.

Check out my album of my two ladies -- Sara's 1996, and I'm sure she has NO paint on her face.
I think they look better that way, or maybe with a little paint like my 1995 Kirsten. Seriously, who walks around with big rosy cheeks?

My PM Molly is almost colorless too. We don't mind though because she is supposed to be a little girl. I don't let my real live little girls wear make-up either.

I like them better with little color. I think the new dolls look like they are wearing makeup, which as Lara pointed out, at 9-10 years old, they shouldn't be wearing makeup!
